Child Care

Hi! My name is Judith. I am a mom with lots of experience. I can help with childcare, senior care, pet sitting, house sitting, whatever the need might be. I view children as the greatest blessing from God! As a sitter, I primarily provide childcare, and I am flexible for temporary, occasional, PT/FT and overnight at your home. I strive to provide a loving and nurturing environment and can provide care at my home when availability allows. In addition to excellent care I'm also experienced with home schooling and can assist in phonics and other tutoring. I am a Christian, non-smoker. I am bilingual, and can teach your children Spanish along with English if that is your desire. I would be honored to serve as your child's caregiver!

Miss Judy is the only person I have trusted for my son's care. She has helped me on an as-needed basis for the last year and has always been so flexible and able to help me out in cases where there was what I would consider short notice. She is so kind and very generous with her time with children. She does not just watch them, but she teaches them as well. She is very interactive and playful and does not use screens as a form of entertainment. Her warm and friendly disposition makes it very easy for people to warm to her quickly. My son just loves her. I would highly recommend her to anyone that wants someone reliable that they can trust with their child's care.

Jennifer is amazing! This was our first time getting a pet sitter and naturally we were unsure how my pets are going to take it. Jennifer really went above and beyond to make my cats comfortable in her presence by playing with them and also ensured we are always kept in loop about how they our doing. She was caring towards my cats, during her visit she updated us with pics and videos of my cats which really helped us feel more confident that we left them under good care. My cats usually take time to open up around new people, I was amazed how they started getting friendly with her in such a short time, she is natural with animals. I really liked her punctuality, communication and her focus on details. She was also open to helping with any other chores too during her visit. She went extra mile taking care of our babies, they miss her and love the gifts she left for them. I would highly recommend her and would rehire her without doubt.

My name is Linda and I am a caring, love and tidy to attention petsitter. I have been doing this for over 3 years. I do part-time pet walking for early morning, early afternoon and evenings. I am very flexible and don't mind working around your hours. As a part time job I work at a vet right in Fairfax and have been there for over 2 years. I am a receptionist, assistant and kennel assistant there. I also work at a pet grooming facility when my time and body lets me do so! I am experienced with nail trimming, medicating, giving insulin and fluids. During my free time, I love to travel, read, play flag football (I play in a co-ed and women team) and watch sports. I have three dogs (Princess, Kobe and Daiquiri) and two green singing finch, a friendly chinchillas name Gizzy and a hedgehog name Pika. My world has always been a zoo for as long as I can remember ! No worries though, while I am on duties, my lovely boyfriend is in charge of our kids at home. I am comfortable with dogs as small as 3 lbs and as young as 6 weeks to dogs as big as 120 lbs and or 20- years old! I don't own any cats but I can say that our hospital cat who has adopted us into her life in the past 3 years, shows me the ropes of what I can expect from any kitty for sure! Pet sitting lets me have all the animals I would love to have but can't. Please let me know if I can be that sitter or walker for your babies!

FAQs for finding pet sitters

How much should I pay a pet sitter in 2021?
Pet sitters made an average of $13.00 per hour as of July 2021 at a national level. Rates will vary depending on where you live, the specific duties that you will need them to perform, and the frequency of their service. Be sure you clearly communicate to your pet sitter what you will need during the interview process so there are no unpleasant surprises.
In 2021 what types of services can I expect from a pet sitter?

Care.com pet sitters offer a variety of services that depend on the type of animal that you have, so you can determine what works best for you and your pet. Here are the most common services:

  • Pet walker: If you have an active pet that needs exercise during the day, consider hiring a pet walker. They can provide refills of water or food as well as offer some companionship for your pet while you are away.
  • Pet sitting at your home: This is often a great option for cats, bunnies or guinea pigs who don't need such intensive daily care, or pets who like a familiar environment and don't need to take long walks.
  • In-home pet sitter: It's a good option for pet parents that need to be away and feel comfortable leaving their pets at someone else's house. This can work for pets who want more of a connection, need medical care, or get stressed in a kennel environment.

Whether you have someone come to your home or you leave your pet at a sitter's home, experts advise that you always check for pet sitting certifications, get referrals, do a background check, and check the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS) or Pet Sitters International (PSI) to see if the sitter is in good standing.

Are pet sitters background checked?
Yes, pet sitters on Care.com are asked to complete an annual background check called a CareCheck. Pet sitters who complete this background check will have a badge on their profile displaying the date it was run. While CareCheck is a good start, we strongly recommend that you follow some additional steps for hiring a pet sitter safely, which include interviewing candidates, checking references, and running your own background check. Visit our Safety Center to learn more.
How can I find a good pet sitter?
Care.com has hundreds of profiles for pet sitters, pet walkers, animal groomers, trainers and more. You can search the site to review profiles for the different pet sitters in your area and contact those that fit what you are looking for. You will find a description for each provider sharing details about their experience, the type of pets they can care for, and the services that they can provide. You can also post a job describing what you need and have the provider to contact you through the site.
What should I ask a pet sitter during an interview?

Here are some things that you can cover while interviewing a pet sitter:

  • Training and experience: Is this person trained or have the right experience? Pets can have a variety of needs ranging from physical or medical, to emotional. Be sure this person is a good match.
  • Rates and services: Create a list of all the tasks you'd like your pet sitter to perform and then discuss it. This person can determine if they are able to fulfill these needs and what those services will cost.
  • Emergency plans: Ask if they've ever handled a pet emergency and discuss a backup pet care plan.
  • References: Ask for references and check at least three.
  • Meet and greet: Schedule a meet and greet so you can see how the pet sitter interacts with your pet, and if your pet likes them too!
